Quintana Roo Triathlon Wetsuits Logo

Quintana Roo triathlon wetsuits are a brand with great history and are very well respected in the sport. The brand has a great history as they released the first wetsuit made specifically for triathlons which was designed by company founder Dan Empfield. It was released to great acclaim way back in 1987 and opened the market for triathlon specific wetsuits. Since then the company which was founded by Dan Empfield, a legendary Ironman competitor has gone from strength to strength with a long list of advances in design and use of materials making Quintana Roo triathlon wetsuits very popular amongst triathletes. The company is still going strong some 23 years after its inception and is now owned by the American Bicycle Group, LLC. Quintana is widely considered one of the forefathers of triathlon products.

Quintana Roo Product Line

Like most triathlon wetsuit manufacturers Quintana Roo wetsuits come in a range of thicknesses and are made from neoprene rubber. The benefit of wearing a triathlon wetsuit is primarily the protection of the wearer from the water which can at times be cold but also to increase buoyancy and reduce resistance when moving through the water. Here is their current product line of triathlon wetsuits:

Quintana Roo Superfull Triathlon Wetsuit

Quintana Roo Superfull Triathlon Wetsuit

This wetsuit was first released in 2002 and back then it was a game changer in terms of the levels of flexibility, buoyancy and warmth it provided to the wearer. Things did not stop there though and over the years it has been updated and developed to keep up with the latest trends in triathlon wetsuit design. In 2010 it received a massive overhaul incorporating many of the innovations in wetsuit design Quintana Roo have brought to the table over the years. It is now widely considered among many as the best fitting wetsuit on the market and also one of the fastest. Wearers report satisfaction with the high levels of stretch provided to them. This is mainly due to the suits construction which consists of 1.5mm thick Type 40 panels. This high level of stretch benefits the wearer in many ways not least being the ease of which the chest can expand which is a crucial factor in how easy you find it to breathe while racing. Taking off the Quintana Roo Superfull wetsuit is made easier than normal thanks to an ankle insert designed specifically for this task. If you want the best Quintana Roo tri suit available on the market take a closer look at the Superfull. The Superfull comes in men’s and women’s versions and in a range of sizes.

Quintana Roo Hydrofull Triathlon Wetsuit

Although the Superfull is the jewel is Quintana Roo’s triathlon wetsuit product line their Hydrofull suit is close on its heels for the number one spot. It costs less but is not that far behind in terms of features and popularity. Quintana even go as far claiming this is a better suit than the Superfull was three years ago. This shows it is only a few revisions behind the Superfull in terms of quality and features. For added flexibility and range of the motion this suit utilises Yamamoto Type 39 Neoprene in its construction. Exhaustive testing has produced a suit that offers an unparalleled fit that is hard to beat. Little touches like the improved cuff which reduces the amount of water that enters the suit are a nice feature and show the attention to detail carried out by Quintana Roo.

The Quintana Roo Hydrofull triathlon wetsuit is available for both men and women in a range of sizes.

Quintana Roo Ultrafull Triathlon Wetsuit

Quintana Roo Ultrafull Triathlon Wetsuit

Despite being the third in line to the Quintana Roo wetsuit throne this suit does not disappoint. For the price you don’t get much more bang for the buck than this and coming in at about half price of the top of the range Quintana Roo Superfull suit it is hard to beat on value. As an entry level triathlon wetsuit this item puts other mid range suits from other brands in the shade. Like the other Quintana wetsuits the Ultrafull uses high quality Yamamoto neoprene showing a positive decision from the firm not to cut corners where quality is concerned. This suit uses many of the advances in design and use of technologies Quintana Roo’s flagship suits have premiered in the past. If you took the Ultrafull back in time a few years we are pretty sure it would not be an entry level suit and would be sitting at the top of a lot of companies product lines. Like all the other Quintana tri suits this one is available in a range of sizes for both men and women.

If you want an entry level suit or one that won’t break the bank you could do a lot worse than the Quintana Roo Ultrafull triathlon wetsuit.

Quintana Roo Ultrajohn Triathlon Wetsuit

Although not as popular and widely available as the other three suits that make up the Quintana Roo triathlon wetsuit product line it is probably worth mentioning the Quintana Roo Ultrajohn triathlon wetsuit. Fitting in the entry to mid section of their range of suits the Ultrajohn is a sleeveless wetsuit ideal for those in hotter countries where the need for full body protection from the water is not as necessary. Also if you are one of those swimmers who prefers the freedom and increased range of motion only a sleeveless suit can offer this one might well just be for you.

Quintana Roo Triathlon Bikes

As well as being a major force in the triathlon wetsuit market the brand also has a strong pedigree in the triathlon bike sector. In the same year that Quintana released their first wetsuit another company developed and brought to market the first aerodynamic set of handlebars for a bicycle. This company was Scott USA and the year was 1987. Having seen this Dan Empfield, founder of Quintana Roo, realised there was another gap in the market, similar to the one he had discovered and filled two years earlier with the first triathlon wetsuit. Shortly after this he made the first bike designed and developed specifically for the cycling stage of the triathlon. The bike was known as the Quintana Roo Superform and it had the tag of being the first bike “built from the aerobars back”. The then unique design of the bike which focused around a seat with a steep gradient of 80 degrees was designed to help reduce fatigue of the legs, saving energy for the running stage of the triathlon which follows the cycling stage. The Quintana Roo Superform proved very popular and was ridden by Tour de France superstar Lance Armstrong.

Quintana Roo CD01 Ultegra Triathlon Bike

Quintana Roo CD01 Ultegra Triathlon Bike

The Quintana Roo Ultegra triathlon bike is the most popular bicycle from the firm that invented triathlon bike way back in 1989. It is their flagship bike and thus is crammed full of features to help you have a comfortable ride and see almost instant improvements in your times. The Quintana Roo Ultegra brags the lowest drag coefficient ever with a reading of CD01. The latest version of this bike features a modulus carbon fibre lay-up that is responsible for a 10% decrease in the weight of the frame. This will be exciting news to anyone who has ridden the previous version of this bicycle and didn’t think it could possibly get any lighter. Despite being packed with high quality components and well respected in the sport this is by no means the most expensive triathlon bike out there. If you want outstanding quality at an affordable price from the founder of tri bikes then look no further than the Quintana Roo CD01 Ultegra.
